A Curated Pregnancy Wardrobe for the Minimalist Mama

When you’re pregnant it’s easy to find yourself  in black leggings every day! Am I right? But I knew that I didn’t want that to be my main look as I’ve always proclaimed that leggings are not pants!

Since I’m not a fan of purchasing disposable clothing, I wanted to see how I could use what I already had in my closet and only invest in items that would transition through the postpartum phase.

To help me with this, I partnered with the ever stylish, Catherine Sheppard of The Life Styled. Catherine helped me create a few simple outfits that could easy be worn to client consults or the farmers market.

the outfits

for lounging

If I could wear one thing all day, everyday, it would be a kaftan. They’re especially amazing in the if you happen to be in your third trimester during the summer time when you’re body temp tends to skyrocket. Because of their light weight, flowy silhouette and breathable fabric, the body is able to move freely and expand or contract. They look amazing on every shape and size. All one needs are a few simple accessories and the look is timeless.

These kaftans are from one of Catherine’s trips to Italy, however I love this navy one for every season.

from day to night

A non-negotiable piece that can to take you from day to night is a stretchy knit midi dress, like this black Monrow number. It’s luxuriously soft, hugs my body in the most flattering way and is extremely versatile. For a daytime look, brighten it up with an easy denim jacket and sandals or sneakersFor a night out, switch the denim jacket out for a leather moto one and a great pair of booties.

for running errands

If you thought you had to say “farewell” to your leggings while you’re pregnant, think again! These Lululemon align leggings are a mama-to-be’s best friend. They are so stretchy and lightweight that it feels like your second skin. Instead of pairing your leggings with your traditional sports bra or lounge top, dress it up with a vest and loafers for a more polished look. Running errands should be comfortable and stylish.

the no-brainer

Then there are brands that just speak to me, like Hatch. They create beautiful pieces to wear during pregnancy and after. This jumpsuit is definitely worth every penny. I know I’m going to love wearing it after I give birth just as much as I love wearing it while pregnant!

for something special

I really wanted to snatch this dress by The Great from Catherine! The smocked detailing flattered my pregnant belly, while the off-the-shoulder neckline gave me a modest, sultry appeal. This dress is currently sold out, but this dress is another great option. A piece like this can take you beautiful mamas to anything special that have you planned–day or night!

the staples

I love these two outfits that Catherine put together. The denim overalls are so easy to slip on and off for those constant bathroom breaks and are great for layering. The black maternity jeans are a staple to any wardrobe!

Another swoon-worthy brand that can be worn during and after your 9-month labor of love, is Doen. As pictured above, Catherine is wearing a stunning dress by them. Almost all of their items are belly-friendly and work before, during and after your pregnancy.
